Music Ministry
Under the leadership of Rev. David Robertson, the music program at High River United Church is a vital part of congregational life.
Choirs / Bands
High River United Church Choir
Our Choir leads music on Sunday mornings as well as sharing inspiring anthems. Two concerts a year round out their activities. They welcome anyone who loves to sing. You don’t have to read music or have experience singing in a choir. Youth are also very welcome to join the choir.
They practice Thursday evenings from 7:00 to 8:30 pm in the chapel.
Children's Choir and/or Family Choir
When there is interest, a choir formed to practice after church and sing for an upcoming worship.
Highwood Ringers Hand-bell Choir
The Highwood Ringers began practicing and playing with a small group of dedicated ringers in September 2002. We have 3 octaves of bells, which comprise about 25 bells of graduated sizes.
In the past, as well as playing at church for Advent, Christmas, Easter and the annual Spring concert at church, we have played at Spruce Meadows, the Friendship Centre, the Latter Day Saints Church nativity display, the High River Hospital 2nd floor and have even made several road trips.
We are a non-denominational choir, with ringers, both men and women, from several local churches. It is not necessary to know how to read music to join in playing the hand bells.
Contact the church office for more information.
The Gift of Music Society Concert series
The High River Gift of Music Society is committed to providing excellent classical music in the community of High River. We believe that classical music is great music that everyone can enjoy. An ‘unstuffy’ concert series, you will discover the beauty and power of music in a relaxed setting with friends. To learn more about the music, pre-concert chats set the scene for the music you will hear. Committed to supporting and inspiring local music students, the series also offers master-classes and complimentary tickets to all registered music students in High River and surrounding area.
Concerts, unless otherwise announced, take place
at High River United Church, 123 Macleod Trail, High River, Alberta

High River & District Lion's Music Festival
Each spring, the High River & District Lion’s Music Festival is held in our facility for two to three weeks. Young musicians have the opportunity to perform and receive adjudication in a variety of instrumental and voice categories. The Yamaha C7 piano in our sanctuary is a joint purchase by the High River Lion’s and the church, with one of the goals being for young musicians to be experience playing on a great instrument.
