Prayers for your Day - Epiphany

During this season when we are still waiting for more sunshine and less cold,

warm your days with prayer.  You are invited to use these prayers for morning, noon and evening to stay rooted in the love of God.   Using the same prayers over and over again, day by day, is a way of deepening your connection with God and with your own faith.   A new set of prayers will be made available for the beginning of Lent.

Daily Prayers for Epiphany*

(*Epiphany: from January 6 to February 28th - a season of the church year which celebrates Jesus as light and wisdom, who brings a new perspective to our lives.)

Morning Prayer

Holy God,

who sent Jesus as Light and Life,

I greet you this Epiphany morning.

In this season of looking at life in a new way,

in this time of “aha” and insights,

what do I need to see in a new way this day?

What do you want me to notice

in my life and in the community around me?

Knowing that your love enfolds me

and your wisdom guides me,

I enter this day in trust and in hope,

ready to notice your presence

and to be your presence in all that I do and say.

As a follower of the Way of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Noontime Reflection

Pause.  Breathe three deep breaths.

Look around you, where you are at that moment.

Notice one specific person or item or place.

Focus. Ponder.

What do you notice that you haven’t noticed before?  A mood. A texture. A sound. A colour.

Say thank you to God for the gift of this moment.

And for the gift of this person or place or object.

Pray for well-being of this person or this place.

Breathe deeply in gratitude

then return to your day.

Evening Prayer

Loving God, I greet you this Epiphany evening,

offering my gratitude for this day.

(take time to offer your specific thanks)

As I prepare now for my time of sleep,

I place these things into your hands,

(name worries, to-do items, concerns)

I pray love and well-being for

(name family, friends, situations near & far)

This Epiphany day now comes to an end.

Some things are done; some things are not.

I leave it all in your care, Loving God,

and go to my time of rest and sleep,

knowing that you are with me. Amen.
