In our spiritual and emotional lives, there are winters. Sometimes we choose the winter – a time of rest, of stepping back and reassessing, a time of releasing what we’ve always done and giving ourselves space before embracing something new. Great creativity can come out of a chosen time of rest and non-productivity.
But there are also the winters we don’t choose – the death of a loved one, the loss of a job, betrayal by a friend, aging or a flood disaster. What does scripture teach us about surving these winters that hit us like a storm?
