In 1992, Verna Besselink stepped into High River Un
ited Church, which set her on a faith journey exploring Prayer and our conn
ection to the Divine. Verna's humble beginnings began with a series of work
shops with Rev. Murray Etty in 1994. One of her first questions around pray
er was, “Do you have to pray out-loud?” Good question if you have only bee
n exposed to prayer in this way. This was not the only question she had abo
ut Prayer and she continued to explore especially through the Healing Minis
try Program. Rev. Susan created a series of courses for the Healing Ministr
y in 2000 and again Verna was intrigued by the Prayer for Healing and Nurtu
re. She has studied several other styles of Prayer (Cherokee, Peruvian, Sou
nd Healing, Body Centred Prayer & Christianity.)
