This is an exciting and important time in the life of High River United Church.

The Church Board, the Vision Seekers group and you, the congregation, have worked hard over the past several months to develop a plan to help shape our next four years and beyond.

Immediately following the worship service on Sunday September 21^st, a special congregational meeting was held to discuss and vote on the proposed Strategic Plan for High River United Church. The plan was unanimously approved.

The complete Strategic Plan is available in the Church Office.

The document provides elaboration on a number of key proposals.

These include a plan for a new or renovated church building. Many people believe the existing building is outdated and may not be able to support the programs of a growing, vibrant and dynamic congregation for years to come.

The Board is not immediately proceeding with building a new or renovated building.

The Board is, however, in the process of studying building plans in consultation with the congregation. A recommendation will be made to the congregation at a future congregational meeting.

The Strategic Plan addresses a number of other key needs that have been identified by the congregation, the Vision Seekers group, the Official Board and others.

Among them is a need to improve communication to all members of our congregation using both existing and creative new mediums, including this new website.

The plan also commits us to:

• Developing a variety of worship services and music programs.
• Doing a better job of addressing needs within High River and area.
• Developing a plan to grow the congregation to respond to growth within the community.
• Providing a place for people to nurture their spirits.
