PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY
Our prayer shawl ministry continues at High River United Church .  Those who have received one of our beautiful hand knit shawls have expressed feelings of comfort and blessing upon receiving this token of our love and concern.

Shawls have been given to people taking cancer treatments or facing surgery, to those suffering loss or moving to a new location and to a women’s program in Calgary .  If you would like to make one of these shawls, please contact Joy at 652-7870.  Kits of yarn are available.  To request a shawl for someone you know, please call Mel at the church office 652-3168.

  Summer Reading

Postscripts:

A Bookclub for Women

Our September 2009 book will be:

“Three Cups of Tea : One Man’s Mission to Promote Peace….One School at a Time”

by Greg Mortenson & David Oliver Relin

(Penguin 2006.)

This book picks up on our discussion of “ Kabul in Winter” last year.  It is a true story of a mountain climber’s adventure as he built 55 schools for girls in Afghanistan and Pakistan .  What might we want to do next?
